The traditional Thai New Year, known for its large-scale water festivals and family reunions, also marks one of the most dangerous times on the country’s roads.

- Timeframe: The data covers the first 5 days of the Songkran holiday period (April 11–15, 2025).
- Total Accidents: 1,266
- Injuries: Over 1,300 people reported injured
- Fatalities: At least 137 deaths
Most accidents involved motorcycles and were attributed to speeding, drunk driving, and violations of traffic rules.
